Andy Mattin

Andy worked in the NHS from 1983 in nursing and general management roles mainly London based in mental health and community organisations. In the last 20 years of his NHS career, he worked as an executive director on the boards of a number of NHS trusts in nursing and operational management posts.
Andy was the chair of the London mental health nurse directors’ network and also undertook a lot of work across the capital looking at the nursing workforce and the recruitment and retention of staff to work in mental health services.
Andy retired in 2019 and has worked independently as a healthcare consultant working with the NHS and other organisations. The aim is to support service improvement, staff development and training as well as ensuring services are focused on the needs of communities who they serve.
Andy undertakes some teaching in two universities working in the health faculties. He is especially interested in the contribution of non-statutory organisations to the overall care and support for people with mental health problems in the community.
