About Mosaic Clubhouse
Mosaic Clubhouse @ 65 Effra Road, Brixton is an integrated community and resource centre providing personalised support for people with experience of serious mental ill health. Our aim is to provide opportunities for individuals, who have been socially and vocationally disadvantaged by mental ill health, to regain the confidence and skills necessary to lead productive and satisfying lives. Through participation in a Clubhouse members are given opportunities to form meaningful relationships, develop new skills, increase their confidence and overcome personal barriers they may face in returning to work or accessing educational opportunities. Clubhouse members actively participate in decision-making and in all operational and administrative functions of the Clubhouse, and the services it provides to members and visitors to the centre.
In 2016 we have developed our Theory of Change and our Measurement Framework with the support of New Philanthropy Capital (NPC). Our members, staff & trustees all took part in this process and feel very committed to outcome measurement. As a result of this process we identified five outcomes that we would like to measure:

  • People’s confidence, self- esteem and self-worth increases.
  • Increased sense of wellbeing.
  • People have improved social & support networks.
  • Work readiness- motivation, confidence and skills to work increase.
  • People access vocational, educational, & community activities.

We began quantitative data collection in January 2016 and repeat this exercise at regular intervals, with the same cohort, to measure change. We currently have over 500 paired readings that can be analysed. We also need to identify a sample group of members to undertake qualitative research with.
We are seeking the involvement of a research volunteer to conduct analysis of the results which are recorded via the Sales force database. Activity will include:

  • Desktop research into existing evidence-based outcome measures
  • Working with staff; encouraging maximum data collection from willing members, and timely reviews.
  • Conducting semi-structured interviews with a small number of our members
  • Qualitative and quantitative data collation and analysis

In return, Mosaic Clubhouse can offer you the opportunity to test your research questions within a community of people with experience of mental ill health (SMI), who are accessing a range of supportive and empowering interventions as part of their mental health Recovery.
If you are interested in this opportunity or have any questions please contact: Lena Malkin on l.malkin@mosaic-clubhouse.org.

Please note this is a voluntary, unpaid research opportunity, with a flexible time commitment to be discussed with the successful candidate.
