Having like minded people around

I came to the Sanctuary because I had been very suicidal. I had stockpiled tablets and was going to commit suicide. I have struggled with family issues. I went to my GP they called an ambulance and I went to hospital. I was on suicide watch for a few days then I had a voluntary admission. When I came out of hospital I was street homeless for a few weeks. I didn’t have proper support. I was scared and very depressed. I was referred to Mosaic and the Sanctuary by my GP.

Sanctuary has been really helpful. It has really lifted my mood. It was lonely being on the streets walking around by myself. It is lovely eating with other people and being engaged in the groups. Having somewhere to go where I was not forced to interact really helped. I could just sit and get myself together and get comfortable without pressure.
Now I have a hostel to stay in I can start my life and focus on my mental health. I have just started weekly therapy sessions and have a support worker.
It feels good to come to Sanctuary as it’s not just somewhere I have to go because there is nothing else. I can come because there are like-minded people. I enrolled in college this week.
