Back to work with a Transitional Employment Placement @ LWN Hub

In Spring 2015, for the first time in my life, I began to show bipolar symptoms, but these seem only, looking back, to have affected me at certain times since then. To be frank, I had experienced OCD symptoms since I was a teenager, but had learned to live with them happily. Now, thanks to the Lambeth Home Treatment Team and especially Dr Larry Rifkin, I seem to be on a helpful mixture of tablets. It was Dr Rifkin who encouraged me to come to Mosaic Clubhouse, about which I knew nothing. Beverley will attest to the fact that I quickly got to enjoy coming to 65 Effra Road! I am very grateful to everyone for their friendliness and for the opportunity to help with various computer-related tasks in the B&A Unit. This gave me the chance to improve my computer skills...I am very happy to have helped, as I shall continue to do with some finance responsibilities too.

For 25 years until early last year I worked for a Roman Catholic aid agency based in SW4, The Little Way Association. I hoped to go back there, but this was not possible. I am delighted to be doing a Transitional Employment Placement (TEP) at theLiving Well Network Hub in Streatham. It is so good to be back in constructive employment, and to be paid! Many thanks to Katie especially for making this possible and to Katerina and Jonathan for training me. I shall do my best to make my time at the LWN a success and am sure it will help me, in due course, to get back into full-time work or something like it.

"It is so good to be back in constructive employment"

I wrote the foregoing in late February. It is now July! I am continuing to get on happily at The Living Well Network. The staff there are friendly and help each other in many ways. I am pleased to be part of such an impressive response to the needs of the very large number of people in Lambeth suffering from mental health problems. I feel fortunate to live now within the Borough of Lambeth, and hope other parts of Great Britain can learn from, and be inspired by, what is happening here.
