How the digital inclusion project has helped me As part of our Digital Inclusion project, funded by the Coronavirus Community Support Fund and distributed by the National Lottery Community Fund, we’ve been working with Morley College, joining forces to expand our members’ digital skills. This has allowed us to increase the impact of providing iPhones and laptops to members by also supporting them with dedicated workshops and one to one support in our building delivered by an IT lecturer from Morley College. One of our members describes her experience of the smart phone course: I truly appreciate doing this course in December. I’ve learnt a lot of things on the iPhone and smart phone – how they function and how to use the phone confidently. I’ve learned the phone is like a mini-computer and it can support me in many ways, like with my spelling. I’ve learned to use the diary, the clock and alarm, how to switch the phone on and off, how to add a security number to keep my phone details private. I am truly enjoying the class and like my teacher Richard’s way of teaching me. Richard ensures that I understand everything he teaches me by allowing me to demonstrate it on my phone. Plus, it’s taken me out the house early in the morning and I meet other Mosaic members because, otherwise, I’d spend 95% of my time alone at home. Thank you! Due to the third national lockdown we’ve had to cancel planned courses this Spring term, but are still working with Morley College to provide clear instructions for members to set up their new devices.
