Getting online with the digital inclusion project

Since starting the digital inclusion project at the end of 2020 we have provided devices to nearly 100 members and internet to over 30 members (as of end March 2021). Working with Morley College we've also supported members to develop new digital skills through over 30 hours of one-to-one tuition, 40 members have accessed digital workshops, drop-in support sessions and ICT courses. We couldn't have done this work with funding from the Coronavirus Community Support Fund, distributed by the National Lottery Community Fund. Below is feedback from two members.

Anonomous: I'm just really chuffed with my new laptop, it's going to open a lot of doors for me. It will really act as an engine for me to get on my feet, talk to family and stay connected. Also in looking for work, it will really help me to get a CV together. I've had two sessions with Richard from Morley college and I've been really impressed, he's been very good and patient with me, since I'm still getting the hang of using the computer again. This whole experience has been such a breath of fresh air for me.

Johnny: I am enthralled and captivated by my present from the Mosaic Clubhouse digital inclusion project of a Lenovo laptop with a dongle on the Giffgaff network. I have benefited considerably from my computer especially during the social distancing of the coronavirus lockdown. It has facilitated greater social inclusion through Zoom, Whatsapp and Facebook messenger. I have also been watching numeracy and literacy videos on the BBC skillswise website, and have also been learning about how to perfect my typing through online typing tutors. I also enjoy being able to listen to vintage and retro music on Youtube, particularly Boney M and the Glenn Miller Orchestra. I also completed my UK census online on my new computer. In addition to this, I am also able to partake in my regular religious meetings twice a week. I really am happy and grateful because of my present of a computer and I seem a lot happier and brighter as an individual since receiving it from Mosaic Clubhouse who I love and appreciate very much indeed.
