From working at Mosaic to an employment placementHello, everyone! My name is Mamyaka and I discovered Mosaic from my care coordinator. At first, I was nervous about coming in, but I pushed myself to come, and it proved to be the best thing I could do. I came to Mosaic in May 2021. When I came, I met with a staff member, and they showed me around and introduced me to other staff and members of Mosaic, which made me feel welcome and more comfortable. I started attending Mosaic and I found it a very good environment. I got to know other members while working with them, and collaborating with staff was incredible.
I also joined the "Reception and customer service" course at Mosaic and I got my certificate. After the course, I started working in reception and learned many reception skills. I also learned how to communicate with members on the phone. Through my journey, I learned how to receive phone calls and sign members and visitors in and out. "Doing the phones helped me to communicate effectively, and through working in B&A I learned computer skills. I also built my confidence and my myself esteem." Doing the phones helped me to communicate effectively, and through working in the Business and Administration Unit I learned computer skills. I also built my confidence and my myself esteem. The staff are kind and friendly, they helped me to get a Transitional Employment Placement (TEP) which is incredible. I was excited and looking forward to it. I started working at my TEP on the 31st of October (just two weeks ago). At my TEP I do reception: I let people in and help the staff sign in and out. I receive phone calls and transfer them to staff members, who are friendly too! This is my journey so far and I am now looking forward to what other positive experiences the future will bring. Thank you very much, everyone. |
