Building Confidence, Improving Skills

My name is Jamell, I’ve been a member since the end of 2019. Lockdown was boring, there was nothing much to do, I played a lot of video games.

I was excited when Mosaic opened up again on the 12th of April. I started coming back from then, working in the Business and Administration unit. I usually answer phone calls, record the attendances for Internal Events and the results for Reach outs. I’m Ok using computers and doing this helps me improve my I.T skills.

Dawite asked me to help out in the Football Project “Hood Mentality.” A meal was cooked for the young people after their football sessions. I helped out in the kitchen, washing up, peeling potatoes, mopping the floor. I enjoyed the team work, working with members of staff and other young adults who were members at Mosaic. We took the food to the park, they were enjoying the football. The sessions were try to help steer them onto a good path.

I was very happy to help out with the football project. Coming to Mosaic gives you an opportunity to get out of the house, even though you’re working here, you still meet people and socialise, we had a young adults picnic the other week. I think it helps build your confidence, improve your social skills.
