Goal Planning
Mental health recovery is a complex process involving many different factors. Important factors can include:

  • Reclaiming a sense of hope

  • Regaining a sense of meaning

  • Managing one’s own mental health to reduce the impact and symptoms experienced to achieve a higher level of wellness

  • Reclaiming roles beyond being a mental health service user

Goal Planning is a flexible person centered planning tool, which accounts for a person’s changing mental health needs and their aspirations. Goal Planning is confidential and occurs between a member and his or her chosen Support Worker. The sessions are designed to identify barriers that a person may face in achieving their goals and leading a full and independent life. Goal Planning also identifies practical steps members can take independently to achieve their vocational, educational and personal goals. Practical support and advice is given throughout the process.
